Crew

We couldn't ask for a better team.

Michael Zimmerman, Owner and General Manager

Golden born and raised, Michael Zimmerman knows what this town is all about.

Michael found his love of building during a carpentry apprenticeship with an expert carpenter in 2000 and hasn't looked back. He loves his crew and his clients, and he believes "if they are both happy, I am happy." Since day one it has been Michael's mission to ensure that his clients get exactly what they want (even if they sometimes don't know themselves).

In 2008, he started Zimmerman Construction with a highly skilled crew of carpenters and apprentices who share his passion for building. Zimmerman Construction takes on a limited number of projects, building between four and eight homes a year and offers complete project management services. Michael believes a skilled crew like his is the most important part of a successful build.

Jeremy Lafleur, Foreman

Jeremy has been with Zimmerman since the beginning and brought with him a wealth of knowledge. He grew up in a logging family and enjoys fishing, paragliding, and rock climbing. His greatest satisfaction comes from running jobs at peak productivity through to the very end.

Mich Lafleur, Foreman

Mich is an experienced project manager who has been in the carpentry business for 14 years. He is organized and task oriented, pushing projects along with his legendary work ethic. He's always been a high achiever, a family man, and even was a semi-pro golfer!

Tyler Botting, Foreman

Tyler grew up in the trade and is a carpenter through and through. He credits Zimmerman with being an understanding and empathetic employer. He's happy to call Golden his home due to its fair share of meaningful work, and when he's not building he can be found on his farm with his family.

James Martin, Foreman

James enjoys building things well that will serve people for years to come. He grew up in his father's workshop and has a knack for seeing easier and faster ways to do things. Golden is his home because he prefers small town builds, great scenery, and endless recreation.

Blake Fast, Foreman

Blake is a great carpenter with a special skill for burnt wood flooring. He loves building in the mountains, is production oriented and a self confessed neat freak. Why Zimmerman? In Blake’s words (and many others), Michael Zimmerman is one hell of a boss.

Ryan Soden, Carpenter

Ryan has been a carpenter for 12 years. He's super reliable and loves to get things done fast. He also is a big fan of the endless fishing opportunities that Golden provides.

Phil Greenfield, Carpenter

Phil believes in building for the long game. He enjoys building quality structures that will stand the test of time. He has been a carpenter for 12 years and is happiest when he is working or playing outside. He credits Zimmerman construction for their “good guys, interesting projects, and good clients.”

Cody Lank, Carpenter

Cody has been in the game on and off for 25 years. He has a knack for visualizing a build and then bringing it to life. He appreciates the focus on quality that Zimmerman strives for, as well as the guys he gets to work alongside. His favourite projects are unique mountain builds. Location and lifestyle are two reasons Cody is here to stay.

Kyle Boizard, Apprentice

Kyle has been a carpenter with Zimmerman for almost 4 years as he pursues his red seal trade certification.  Like many Goldenites, Kyle charges as hard at the hill as he does on the job site. He likes carpentry because of it's never ending opportunities for problem solving and new technical situations.

Chris Cameron, Apprentice

Chris has just recently gotten hooked on carpentry and construction in the last year and has entered the provincial apprentice program. He brings a ton of energy and drive to the job site, not to mention has a minor in Economics, and is a former Canadian National team kayaker.

Stein Kuhle, Apprentice

Stein has just started laying his hand into the carpentry business and is a natural, having grown up in a construction family. He's a planner, gets things done, and is a fast learner. Born and raised in Golden, Stein is an avid outdoorsman and a great person to ask about the local scene.
